Mary Ewers is graceful, kind, and a strong woman with impeccable taste. We are privileged to present this collection of unique and extraordinary pieces she has acquired over the years, from her world travels, living here in Roanoke, and also many years spent in California and Ohio.
The daughter of artists, she developed an innate appreciation for fine art and high quality craftsmanship. This is evident in every item of this delightfully “small” auction of outstanding gems. Mr. And Mrs. Armand Carney retired from New Jersey and came to Floyd County to establish High Hopes Farm. Mr. Armand Carney continued his art creating decorative duck decoys, shorebirds, and song birds. He spent many hours in his workshop creating his art. His work and techniques have been featured in many books and articles. Several lots in this auction are of his work. Pat Carney collected the workds of local artists. There are many local pieces featured in this auction such as Glendon Boyd dough bowl, local Floyd baskets makers such as C.D. Boyd basket, R. Sowers basket, and Dublin artist C.Ted Bobbit basket and a quilt by Margie Hartley and other local artwork and handmade items.
Auction features a large railroad crossing sign, Floyd County jelly cupboard, blue decorated crocks and jugs, Quilts such as Flower Garden and Dresden plate, Victorian hand painted fish set, Green Painted antique basket, many duck decoys and shore birds, some made by Mr. Carney.
